Our energy marketing & trading team is our window to the global wholesale commodity market.
As well as executing procurement and risk management strategies for British Gas and hedging strategies for our Power and Gas production businesses in the UK and Europe, our energy marketing & trading team develops and executes its own trading strategies in response to market opportunities. It’s a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and innovative business, reliant on quality analytics to inform commercial decision-making and risk management.
The Energy Marketing & Trading Analyst Graduate Programme could see you working within a diverse array of teams and functions, including Trading and Optimisation, Origination, Finance and Risk. You could be informing and improving major decisions with your high-calibre analysis. Your first placement will be a steep learning curve, giving you a solid foundation in how the energy markets and our businesses operate, as well as providing exposure to more experienced analysts to learn how to approach various challenges and business problems.
Each placement will be different with its own challenges, so adapting to change is fundamental to success. You’ll need to develop a transferable skill set as you’ll be expected to deliver real results from the outset, although you won’t be expected to do this alone. Your on-the-job training will be supported by formal behavioural and technical training, together with a structured performance management process.
We need analysts who have a grounding in a numerical discipline or business qualifications where there is a strong quantitative element, e.g. maths, statistics
