HSES – at the heart of everything we do.
Our operations involve all stages of the production and supply of gas and electricity to millions of customers every day, and what we do is inherently hazardous. That’s why we live by the adage, ‘we do it safely, or we don’t do it at all’. Protecting the health and safety of employees, customers and the wider public is our top priority and we believe that all work-related injuries and major accidents can be prevented. We’re also committed to understanding, managing and reducing the environmental and ecological impacts of our activities through innovation, technology and cultural change.
We recognise that the above requires a committed, thriving community of professionals. That’s why we’re looking for highly motivated graduates with a degree in engineering, science or related disciplines, who are interested in developing their career in HSES. The range of career options is enormous, whether it’s leading the drive to a low carbon economy, promoting the health and wellbeing of our workforce, reducing the operational safety risks of our onshore and offshore energy production and supply operations, or maintaining the security of our people, assets and information. As a graduate, your contribution will be vital.
Our programme will provide you with the opportunity to develop professionally, as well as personally, through team-working, event organisation and engagement with key stakeholders inside and outside the business. You’ll acquire field-level, practical skills, as well as a broad appreciation of our strategic direction on HSES.
Our award-winning HSES graduate scheme starts with sixteen weeks of intense induction where you’ll spend time at all of our businesses, and receive all the training you need to ensure you can undertake your work safely, whether it’s in a customer’s home or at an offshore gas platform.
After this, you’ll start the first of three eight-month placements at one of our businesses. Be assured, you’re here to contribute and you’ll be expected to add value to the business from day one within a wider team, where you’ll receive all the support and advice you’ll need. You’ll also have a coach, who will be a previous graduate who knows all the ropes, plus a personal mentor, who will be a senior manager, and they’ll be available for support and advice throughout your entire graduate career.
Deadline for applications: 4 January 2017 (subject to change, please apply early to avoid disappointment).
