Health, Safety, Environment and Security Summer Placement
Our 10-week summer placement programme is designed to increase employability in students whilst providing a valuable resource to the business. We’re looking for self-directed learners and self-motivated individuals who show potential to grow, learn and develop on our programme. You should aim to demonstrate a can-do, proactive attitude and a genuine interest and desire to learn more about our business and industry. In return, we offer projects with a high level of responsibility and the opportunity to enhance and develop the fundamental skills required for working life, with a support network that’s second to none. We want you to stand out in the workplace and helping you establish your strengths and fulfil your potential is what our Summer Placement is all about. We also encourage you to get involved with community and charity activities. One of these is the Summer Placement Charity Challenge, which raises money for our chosen charities. In the last three years students have raised around £50,000 through various team initiatives – all while enhancing vital skills and networking across the business. If you perform well, you could leave us with an offer to join the Graduate Programme the following year.
We have locations across the UK – plus we arrange and pay for accommodation close to your place of work with other students based in the area.
Our operations involve all stages of the production and supply of gas and electricity to millions of customers every day, and what we do is inherently hazardous. That’s why we live by the adage, ‘we do it safely, or we don’t do it at all’. Protecting the health and safety of employees, customers and the wider public is our top priority and we believe that all work-related injuries and major accidents can be prevented. We’re also committed to understanding, managing and reducing the environmental and ecological impacts of our activities through innovation, technology and cultural change.
That’s why we’re looking for highly motivated students who are interested in developing their career in HSES. The range of career options is enormous, whether it’s leading the drive to a low carbon economy, promoting the health and wellbeing of our workforce, reducing the operational safety risks of our onshore and offshore energy production and supply operations, or maintaining the security of our people, assets and information. As a summer placement, your contribution will be vital.
Deadline for applications: 1 February 2017 (subject to change, please apply early to avoid disappointment).
