Scott acquired the job through a friend visiting the Scottish Graduate Fair. He knew he would be working for an international company with brands that are known all over the world. Having travelled through Camp America and Erasmus this graduate scheme seemed like the perfect opportunity to continue but also be the face of one of the biggest brands in the world.
Key responsibilities include training bartenders to become advocates of Chivas Regal, helping them develop drinks, hosting whisky tastings, events, dinners, attending whisky festivals. Educating consumers through activations such as The Blend. Representing Chivas at prestige events, talking to media, press, journalists, collaborating with football teams i.e. Manchester United. Every day in the life of a Brand Ambassador is different.
The training was 5 weeks across London, Paisley and Speyside learning about the Chivas Brothers portfolio, understanding the craft and heritage behind the premium whiskies and soft skills such as influencing, communicating effectively and managing time.
Highlights of the job for Scott include working as part of the Pernod Ricard UK, Brand Engagement and Advocacy Team which is a team of Brand Ambassadors who host trainings and tour different cities across the UK engaging bartenders in fun, interactive and engaging ways. Activating the launch of Chivas Brothers newest single malt, Allt-A-Bhainne at one of the top bars in London. Hosting the winner of the Chivas Masters UK 2018 at the Global Final, meeting bartenders from all over the world, learning from them and being part of a wider community.
Scott mostly enjoys meeting new people every day from bartenders to consumers and being able to share his passion for Scotch whisky and Chivas.
Challenges he has faced are moving to a new city (London), trying to settle in and navigate his way around. Moving again 6 months into the job to Manchester, doing the same and then moving back to London. But the support from his colleagues at Chivas Brothers and Pernod Ricard UK made all of this very easy.
He loves working for Chivas Brothers as every day is different. He likes visiting bars in the Top 50 Bars in the world and being able to enjoy the most creative cocktails in the world!
