Types of work
Corporate advisory (including capital markets, M&A, finance, private equity and venture capital and funds), commercial litigation, data privacy, employment, financial services, internal investigations and compliance, international arbitration, insurance coverage disputes, intellectual property, life sciences, tax, technology and media.
As a trainee you will receive work assignments designed to develop your skills and will get the support and training to excel in your work. In addition, all our lawyers, including trainees, are encouraged to undertake pro bono work.
You will do four six-month seats, rotating between departments. All trainees will undertake a seat in Corporate and a contentious seat in Dispute Resolution. We try to accommodate your interest in specific practice areas whenever possible and currently offer optional seats in the following areas: life sciences transactional, life sciences regulatory, technology and media, intellectual property and we also offer client secondments.
The work you undertake will vary by practice areas and we aim to give trainees as much responsibility as they can manage. You will work in small teams directly with associates and partners, and with overseas colleagues.
We aim to distinguish our trainee programme by offering a genuine support network which includes assigning associate buddies and undertaking regular performance reviews.
We have an excellent record of retaining trainees on qualification and we aim to recruit and retain trainees who are interested in making a long term commitment to the firm.
Who should apply
We are looking for consistently high academic achievers, (a 2.1 degree or above), commercial orientation, strong interpersonal skills and team players. Whilst some of our trainees read law at university, we welcome graduates from every discipline.
We also operate a Summer Vacation Scheme which runs in June and July. We have 24 places split over three, week-long programmes which involves a variety of talks, work assignments, social events and activities.
