"The firm is a friendly place to work as partners and secretaries alike are approachable and everyone mingles. The culture is very sociable and there are often after-work drinks and other social events being organised throughout the year."
Second year trainee, London
"The vast majority of supervisors have no expectations of trainees to stay late if there is no urgent work to be done. The firm is generally not hierarchical and partners are approachable and willing to explain and provide context to work given. Panel partners are useful points of contact for trainees and can be really helpful sources of advice. Departmental events are organised a few times a year while trainee events are generally linked to vacation schemes or Dechert Uncorked."
First year trainee, London
"The working hours are generally good, although they do vary between teams. There is a good support structure and people are generally very friendly and willing to help you out when they can. There isn't very good attendance at firm-sponsored social events though, which is a shame."
First year trainee, London
"The office culture is very welcoming. The open-door policy is ingrained so associates and partners are willing to take the time to explain tasks and any unfamiliar concepts. There could be greater attendance of events organised by the firm."
First year trainee, London
"Because the office is not enormous here in London, it is not unusual to meet most of the people spread across the departments and floors. All faces become familiar very quickly and this makes the job enjoyable from the start. If you don't meet them during the working day then you'll be sure to meet them at football, after-work drinks or perhaps at the whole office pub quiz. It's a local feel in a global firm."

"People have an appreciation of life outside of the firm and expect you to go home if you do not have anything too urgent to complete."
First year trainee, London
"The culture is good, friendly and helpful. You can be as included in socialising as you want as we have a team for everything including softball, football, sailing and singing. Hierarchy definitely exists, as in all law firms, but, depending on the department, there can be great teamwork, cooperation and responsibility."
Second year trainee, London
"There are various social events throughout the year and Shaws Booksellers is an office favourite. However, long and unpredictable hours can prohibit extracurricular activities."
First year trainee, London
"Depending on the department you can either have a great team who'll be at the pub every Friday or a team that does not socialise outside of office hours."
First year trainee, London
"Some departments are very social, others not so much. Cooperation and teamwork is fairly good and there's not a lot of hierarchy, save for some of the older partners."
Second year trainee, London
"The office is very friendly and there is a strong sense of a 'work hard, play hard' attitude. Most partners are approachable and the senior associates certainly are. There are often social events put on during the week, both inside and outside the firm."
First year trainee, London
"Some parts of the firm are still very hierarchical but it's generally a relaxed office and the hours could be a lot worse."
Second year trainee, London
"This largely depends on the department."
First year trainee, Dechert LLP
