"Most partners are accessible. We have panel partners allocated to each trainee who oversee appraisals and who you can seek advice from about other work-related matters. It is helpful to have a partner's perspective and support at times. You get praise if you do a good job and you are not ridiculed if you mess up. Most solicitors appreciate that trainees are learning and things happen."

"Some senior associates and partners are willing to teach, others are not so accessible. The firm has a good 'panel partner' scheme where trainees are assigned a partner as a mentor who attends appraisal meetings throughout their two years."

"My current supervisor, a senior associate, is very approachable and is a wonderful mentor. She takes the time to explain the transaction and the point of the task she is giving me. The appraisal and mid-seat review systems mean performance feedback is given."

"People are pretty accessible."

"It depends on the supervisor but these are well chosen."
