"Generally, the salaries don't hold up well compared to other firms in the City. This is particularly the case after qualifications."
First year trainee, London
"Bonus structure is slightly unclear for trainees. However, we get one and it's a 'bonus' so no complaints. Standard remuneration is market rate for a big firm."
Second year trainee, Leeds
"Trainee salary is very reasonable in comparison to other firms across the City. A new bonus scheme has recently been introduced that puts it on a purely discretionary basis. It will be interesting to see how this compares to the previous fixed bonus scheme."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"Pay has recently become more competitive following a review of competitor firms."
Second year trainee,
"Bonuses are based on personal achievement, though it seems to be standard to award each trainee a bonus. While some gripe about their salary, I think it is fair. It is in line with the market rate of the city I work in."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"Our bonuses are linked to our performance scores, which as a trainee I think is fair. Our bonuses are a small percentage of our salary. My pay is average for the City, but I believe I make a lot more with regards to spare time and having my weekends to myself, which many people on higher wages do not have the luxury of."
First year trainee, London
"Salaries are a little lower than the City average and the trainee bonuses aren't very high. However, the firm makes up for that with work/life balance."
First year trainee, London
"The salary as an Eversheds trainee is the highest among law firms in Cardiff. However, cross the bridge to Bristol and the salaries do jump quite significantly. I think Eversheds have done well to stay at the forefront, but some more local firms are starting to catch up and I think Eversheds will need to increase trainee salaries if they want to continue to attract the best candidates away from other growing firms."

"The salary is a good amount, and increases when you enter your second year of the training contract. Bonuses are offered on a discretionary basis."
First year trainee, Manchester
"NQ salary has recently been raised in line with market rates which makes me happy."
Second year trainee, Leeds
"The pay is okay, not as high as others within the area but this is going up. The bonus process for trainees is not particularly transparent and although it is meant to be discretionary all trainees have received the same amount this year."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"I think that pay and bonuses at the firm are very competitive."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"The salary is generally very good. Bonuses for trainees have been at set amounts but this is in the process of changing to be based on performance."
Second year trainee, London
"While I believe that trainee pay could be increased slightly in the regional offices, I know that NQ pay has gone up which is excellent, and we receive annual bonuses which is always nice."
Second year trainee, Manchester

2014

"Trainees are included in the bonus scheme. The salary is average and comparable to competitors in the region. Although, it is quite disparate from London and this isn't taking into account whether you go on international secondment - you both do the same job, but you get paid very different amounts."
Second year trainee, Manchester
"In my opinion, the pay is not enough. I am in Cambridge, which is an expensive city to live in and so the pay needs to be higher as rent and living is only slightly cheaper than London. Other firms of Eversheds' size and international mind-set pay a lot more."
First year trainee, Cambridge
"I think a bonus scheme should be introduced for trainees at Eversheds."
First year trainee, Leeds
"Eversheds offers a decent salary for regions, and is on par with most firms of its standard. A bonus for trainees is also good as it is fixed in line with firm performance, and it generally gets paid."
Second year trainee, Leeds
"The juniors' pay here is not great compared to the firms which Eversheds compares itself to."
Second year trainee, London
