Trainee Innovation Consultant (6-month paid role)

If you want to redesign the flagship store experience for the biggest confectioner in the world, run a start-up lab for a renowned media company or experiment with new sources of revenue for a major UK train operator, Fluxx’s new JumpStart programme might be for you.

For 6 months, you’ll receive supported, hands-on immersion into the world of innovation consulting with exposure to multiple clients and industries. We’re looking for curious, self-starting people who can bring something new to the Fluxx family, and if we both think it’s a good fit, there’s a permanent role available. You’ll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, able to think quickly on your feet and just be interested and curious about the world around you.

What you might do:

  • Research the needs and challenges faced by customers using ethnographic research techniques
  • Design new services and experiences for major brands
  • Test whether customers actually want a service or experience before your client spends half a million pounds building it
  • Create a vision for the future of your client company based on customer research and market trends, and develop a strategy on how to get there
Send us an email with your response to one of the following questions (in any format you want, but don’t spend too long on it; it’s meant to be a quick snapshot into how you think).
  • Describe a bad experience you’ve had as a customer. How would you have made it better and why?
  • Tell us about a company that really understands their customers. What are they doing that works well for users, and why do you think that?
  • If you set out to learn about snacking habits in British families, who would you interview, what 3 questions would you ask, and why?
  • An entrepreneur wants you to invest in their book subscription service. What 3 things would you want to know before investing and why?
  • Imagine you’re the head of strategy at a UK department store. Your business is being threatened by online retail, and you’re afraid that you can’t continue as you are. What do you see as your options, and how do they compare to one another?
