Fourteen is a leading, specialist family law set with a national reputation. We undertake high quality work for a wide client base, which includes private client and legal aid solicitors, large city firms and local authorities. We have occupied a prominent position in the London legal market for many years. We are recognised as a leading family law set in Chambers and Partners with a ‘strong showing in children work’ and ‘established matrimonial finance and Court of Protection practitioners’. We are noted for members who are ‘very personable, on a human level and not at all stuck up’. We boast a long list of ranked juniors with experience at every level. We have dedicated practice teams in the law relating to children, family finance, the Court of Protection and international family law. Many of our barristers are public/direct access qualified and some of our barristers offer mediation and arbitration services. A number of former members are now senior members of the judiciary.
Pupillage Fourteen offers one 12-month pupillage each year. Pupils will have the opportunity to see a wide range of family law cases, including public and private children law, family finance, international family law and the Court of Protection. Each pupil will be allocated 3 pupil supervisors during their 12-month pupillage. They will be expected to accompany members of chambers to court. Chambers provides an advocacy training and case management programme for all our pupils before 2nd 6. For 2019 our pupillage award will be £24,000. This will be supplemented by work done in the second 6 months of pupillage. Over the past 3 years the average earnings of our pupils in the second 6 months of pupillage has been £12,500. We also fund any training that pupils are required to take. We have a strong track record of recruiting tenants from our pupils. Our reputation is such that those pupils who are not recruited can usually find good tenancies elsewhere.
