About Economic and Financial Consulting:
In our Economic & Financial Consulting practice we provide expert advice on issues in economics, finance, business valuation and accountancy, primarily in the context of legal disputes and economic regulation.
Issues frequently addressed include the measurement and forecasting of economic performance; the financial analysis and valuation of direct and indirect interests in businesses; the value of intellectual property rights and complex financial instruments, and the effect of incentives on behaviour.
Examples of our recent work
Example Project – The effect of regulatory changes in the solar power industry:
We were engaged by a number of investors in solar power plants to assess the impact of and economic justification of changes to regulatory regimes along with the corresponding impact on the value of the investments.
Examples of other recent projects include:
- Calculating commercial damages for an airline carrier following a competitor’s anti-competitive practices
- Valuing complex financial derivatives from the fallout of the financial crisis
- Calculating the fair value of a Baltic country’s imported energy
Your role and what we offer
You will have the opportunity to apply your intellect and analytical skills to challenging economic, financial and business issues across many different industries. Our interns will have the opportunity to experience a variety of different projects across a variety of industries.
Who we are looking for:
We are looking for highly numerate, analytical and inquisitive candidates who are able to think independently and creatively. Candidates must be on track for a minimum of a 2:1 degree from a top university and must be able to demonstrate their quantitative skills. We will only consider applications which include both a Cover Letter explaining your motivation to work in the Economic & Financial Consulting practice at FTI Consulting and a CV that includes your academic performance at university and the results of your A-level or equivalent qualifications.
