I initially worked for G-Research during a summer internship in 2015. Following completion of this, the company offered for me to come back in a permanent graduate role one I graduated. I enjoyed the environment and responsibilities student the internship, and coming back was an easy decision.
When I started as a grad, I was immediately placed onto the main project my team were working on. With the team using techniques such as pair programming and various agile methodologies, it was possible to quickly get up to speed with the work we were doing. After only a few weeks, my input in biweekly retrospectives and planning meetings is already taken into account at the same level as the rest of the team.
Alongside getting stuck in with the team's project, various training activities have been organised. These have included some formal financial training, a week of advanced C# training and talks about the company from team managers across several teams.
My first impressions after a few weeks at G-Research are that everybody's opinions and skills are valued and utilised. At the same time, it is very rare that you will be the smartest person in a room, and so there is always a challenge to tackle and something to learn.
With regards to benefits, there is a games room that can be used during the day, along with the standard benefits of health insurance, pension and others. The company also offers very competitive salaries, with performance related aspects that can be at the top end of the sector.
