IT Support Analyst- Year Placement

We are looking for placement students to join our IT Service Desk. This team interacts with all areas across the firm through the provision of technical support to end users. In this role, you would deliver this technical support and also be involved in the maintenance, troubleshooting and improvement of our global IT infrastructure.
Most of the users at G-Research are highly computer literate and range from Software Developers through to Quantitative Analysts and IT Engineers. For you, this means that you will be exposed to a wide variety of user issues, with varying levels of complexity, and will have the opportunity to learn a lot during your time with us. There are also opportunities to travel to a number of offices and data centres, working on a breadth of technical projects with both other members of the team, in addition to the senior IT engineering teams.
You will be working on a large range of technologies and will be responsible for a variety of these, including:
- Desktop and Workstation Blade upgrades and deployments
- Server 2012 R2 upgrades and deployments
- Server and workstation hardware, diagnostics and repair
- PCoIP configuration and diagnostics
- Software upgrades, including trading and general infra applications
- Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange management
- VMWare ESX virtual infrastructure
- Storage and Computing: SAN, Flash, Tiered with computing farms
- Backup infrastructure and disaster recovery plans
- Automated software packaging and build system
- Cisco and Arista networking hardware
- Windows and Linux Operating Systems
Induction and Training
Your development is important to us and for the first two weeks you will receive comprehensive in-house training to assist you to become accustomed to our user environment and IT infrastructure. This training will be delivered through hands-on experiential sessions in addition to seminars delivered by the relevant subject matter experts.
Following the successful completion of this induction, you will be integrated into the IT Service Desk team working alongside a mentor and members of the team who will support you in your role. Progress reviews and updates will be undertaken regularly.
This opportunity suits candidates who have a passion for technology and an aptitude for applying computing concepts to real world problems. Applicants will have strong grades at A Level or a BTEC with triple distinction, be currently studying for a computing degree and be on track for a 1st or 2:1.
