I joined the company as a sponsored student and had 4 years at Loughborough University with 1 year’s sandwich placement working for Galliford Try in London. I wanted to join Galliford Try as I liked the range of projects and locations they were involved with, particularly in the London Area. I joined the Graduate scheme a year ago as a Graduate Site Manager and have worked on several projects since then, most recently a large office block in Central Reading.
Since starting as a graduate site manager I have taken responsibility for my own packages and worked closely with subcontractors and clients. I have received over 25 days training in the past year with courses varying from ‘Improving Communications’ to ‘Crane Rescue’. The Galliford Try graduate development scheme comprises of six two day modules which concentrate on personal and behavioural development including skills that can be implemented back in the workplace.
The part of my job that I most enjoy is the variety that comes with the role. There are different challenges daily and watching the project progress brings a real sense of satisfaction and achievement.
