What's this area all about?

A Business and Technology Consultant at GSK exists to bring compliance, globalisation, productivity and innovation to our operations. Within Information Technology (IT) it is about utilising technology as part of our strategic journey to deliver life enhancing healthcare that enables people to do more, feel better and live longer. We have a huge global remit – delivered by a team of 2800 people based in 68 countries at over 100 sites.

 What will I learn?

All of our programme schemes offer formal training and accelerated learning opportunities. Beyond this, you will learn the ins and outs of business processes and the strategies behind delivering key solutions. This will then allow you to work within our day-to-day service, deployment and business partnering streams.

Over the course of the programme you will gain a deep understanding of core technologies in ERP, Digital or Global Support Functions. You will develop functional expertise to help drive business strategy and focus on expanding your leadership skills through graduate specific training.  You will work on numerous project deployment cycles which will provide you with experience in business process re-engineering and project management.

What programme schemes are available?

Within each programme scheme, you will get the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the capabilities required to be successful in IT as a Business and Technology Consultant. Our SAP ‘boot camp’ is structured to give you highly sought after skills and certifications to become a part of a worldwide SAP rollout at GSK. The Digital and GSF schemes offer a firm technical grounding up front. This knowledge is then applied to service management and project delivery roles. Our Cyber Security scheme (Stevenage / Brentford, UK) supports the global business and manages security and privacy risks. For those interested in the Cyber Security career path, a degree or MSc that specialises in Cyber or Information Security is desirable.

Those with a Life Science degree have the opportunity to enter the IT organization which supports the Research & Development business. Graduates based in the US can apply to US Pharma IT, which supports the commercial and medical businesses and focuses on delivering enterprise technologies. Further opportunities are available in Japan, China and India which support our Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain as well as the Consumer and Commercial business. Throughout this you will have a strong support network and the opportunity to engage with key leaders.

What’s in it for me?

The opportunity to work for a global company that is committed to improving the lives millions of people. You will get the chance to develop your career across an incredibly diverse collection of businesses and geographies and work in an environment that’s deeply committed to personal and professional development.
