What is Corporate Secretariat Future Leaders Programme?
Learn how a Global listed company functions at the centre by joining Corporate Secretariat. Understand how the Board interacts with its CEO and Executive Team. How strategy is considered and implementation is monitored. Understand how companies respond to feedback from shareholders. Get an overview of the corporate structure and how it facilitates the effective operations of the Group.
Get a solid grounding in corporate secretarial practice and governance in a global listed organisation. For customer focused analytical thinkers with commercial awareness, an eye for detail, a passion for maintaining and developing strong governance practices that directly influence our growth and development.
What will the programme be like?
The programme is 3 years long, with 3 rotations.
It’s our aim to prepare you for a future leadership role, so your early career development will be rapid across this three-year programme. As well as experiencing challenging job rotations across a variety of business areas, you’ll be supported by formal learning and coaching. We’re a global company with numerous functions. So the skills you learn will stand you in good stead for a successful and fast-tracked career across many areas of the business and, potentially, many countries.
What will you learn?
You’ll develop a sound understanding of corporate secretarial practice and governance through a series of challenging, in-depth work placements and through studying for your ICSA (or equivalent) qualification. These rotational placements will give you a detailed insight into a large, multi-national company.
By developing corporate secretarial practice and governance skills during the programme, you’ll learn how to collaborate with our business partners and external suppliers to bring innovation and value to GSK.
Corporate Secretariat will give you visibility and an understanding of the role each of the corporate functions play in making GSK successful. So even if you decide that you don’t wish to become a Company Secretary, you will be very well placed to move into other corporate roles.
What’s expected of you?
You’ll be a self-starter who will get involved in managing projects and prioritising a variety of tasks effectively, often working in cross-functional teams. This means you’ll need to build working relationships with people at all levels of our organisation. Not least, we want you to keep developing new skills and knowledge wherever you find the opportunity. We will expect you to deliver, to a high standard, against the challenges and opportunities that are offered to you.
What do you need to succeed?
Ideally, you’ll have a legal, accounting or business degree, but a general interest in this area is more important. In addition, you must have ambition, a self-motivated approach and the ability to interpret information and communicate it in a clear and compelling way. We’re looking for proactive graduates with strong communication skills and an eye for detail, who can quickly build a rapport with a wide range of people. It’s also important that you can adapt to change and keep focused when the pressure is on. While you have the drive and confidence to trust your own judgement, you’re a customer service orientated team player who actively collaborates with others. In addition, you’ll need the ability to multi-task and to influence others.
