What does a Machine Learning Data Modeller industrial placement have to offer?

Basic qualifications:

You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree in a Computer Science / Mathematics or related discipline but will not have graduated at the start of your placement.

Preferred qualifications:

You should have a good knowledge of basic statistics and an interest in multivariate data analysis. Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R would be useful. The project will involve the use of modern machine learning algorithms to predict life science outcomes.

You should be thorough in the way you work and pay attention to detail. You will be able to plan and organise your own work and have the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment. You have the ability to follow projects through to completion. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Some knowledge of chemistry or biology would be advantageous, but not a requirement.


The Computational Chemistry group at GSK Stevenage have an opportunity for an Industrial Placement student to join their team. We work in close collaboration with program teams to provide computational chemistry support across GSK worldwide to discover better and safer medicines for patients.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with scientists within our Computational Chemistry group but also with other disciplines.

This is a computational role and will not involve any laboratory work.
