I am currently recruiting for a Graduate Optical Engineer to work in their cutting edge design and manufacturing facility in Buckingham. The role will involve working within a medium sized mechanical design team. The role includes design, prototyping and testing of optical systems for automotive lighting projects. There will be direct involvement in projects at every level with customers and suppliers. The role may very occasionally involve travel abroad to client and supplier sites.

I am looking for an individual with a demonstrable interest in optics who would like to begin a career in this area. I would also like to see some hands on experience, either from coursework or work experience, with reflectors, lenses and filters. Experience with the optical designs of LED lighting systems would be ideal but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design responsibilities including using ray-tracing software including ASAP and Zemax
  • Prototyping incoherent lighting systems including holistic systems as well as elements like reflectors, lenses and filters
