Harper Adams University
Harper Adams University is The Times/Sunday Times Modern University of the year. With a campus based just 50 minutes from Birmingham and Manchester, the university is a leader in land-based courses including Agriculture, Entomology, Rural Enterprise and Land Management, Business and Food. Winner of the 2016 WhatUni student choice University of the year, the institution prides itself on excellent learning support and a personal university experience.
The University offers MSc, PgC, PgD programs on a full time or part time basis. Taught postgraduate provision is delivered on a block teaching model. This means students can work while they learn and complete their masters (typically) over 12 months or 3 years.
There's a healthy research environment at Harper Adams, producing some exciting ideas and advances for the land-based sector. Our cutting-edge research is wide-ranging and has a positive and practical impact on rural industries and communities, both at home and abroad.
We achieved outstanding results in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, with 100 per cent of the research conducted by Harper Adams University assessed to be of international quality, and more than 50 per cent either world leading or internationally excellent.
We are also the only specialist institution in the sector able to award its own degrees by research. In 2006, we were granted Research Degree Awarding Powers by the Privy Council. This means we validate our own research awards, including doctorates, and that our research process and culture and the quality of the research student experience, is at least equivalent to other UK universities.
The centre has a range of facilities designed to support taught postgraduate students and those undertaking other professional development courses. It was officially opened in March 2010 by Nick Herbert MP, Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
The two-storey centre is situated at the heart of the campus, linked to the Regional Food Academy, and close to all the major facilities.
It features teaching, IT, breakout and common rooms, with facilities for disabled users. This signature building incorporates a variety of sustainable technologies.
