"You attend a number of training sessions as a trainee relating to personal development and presentation skills etc."

"Training is well organised and consistent. There are know-how lectures being held constantly and we're updated all the time on developments. There's also plenty of non-legal training, such as on IT skills and public speaking skills, the latter being useful for any speech you ever have to give!"
Second year trainee, London
"Training is excellent - we have extensive in-house training on a wide range of topics (some compulsory, many optional). This allows you to develop a broad skill set. Some of the training is legal, such as how to draft X or Y document in light of recent judgements; other elements are cultural, e.g. how to ensure a supportive working environment and tips on how to engage with cultures in different areas of the world; and some is commercial, e.g. negotiation skills."

"I particularly enjoyed the trainee development centre, which takes place around halfway through the training contract. It's a good opportunity to take a step back and consider your profile and where you are going in your career."
Second year trainee, London
"People try hard to give trainees a wide range of experience and discuss with trainees what their requirements are. There is a wide range of lectures, seminars and short courses, both internal and external."
Second year trainee, London
"I have found that the training is extensive and always relevant."
First year trainee, London
"Training at the firm is very good; with a focus on soft skills as much as legal knowledge."

"Formal training at HSF is excellent. There is so much training, more so than at other firms."
Second year trainee, London
"The training programme is very extensive. Aside from the required legal skills there is a strong emphasis on soft skills and also wider training such as stress management/mindfulness."
First year trainee, London
"The firm puts a real emphasis on training. We have a two day 'trainee development centre' in second seat to focus on non-technical areas, we also have regular update meetings in our departments."
First year trainee, London
"The presentation skills training was very good. We also have training in how to build a personal brand."
Second year trainee, London
"There are lectures, courses and workshops which are compulsory. Outside of those it will largely depend on how good your supervisor is at 'teaching'."
Second year trainee, London
"There is a huge amount of training on offer, focussing on legal skills as well as general business skills such as presenting, etc."
First year trainee, London
"There are lots of lectures and (especially at the start of the training contract) workshops on soft skills such as adapting to different work styles."
Second year trainee, London

"Lots of lectures, regular training and optional training if requested. The trainee development centre in seat two is brilliant for developing leadership skills - role playing awkward situations with professional actors. The actors were great and also did the mandatory diversity training workshops."
First year trainee, London
"There is a contract law series given by a rather engaging professor, to keep us updated on general contract law. The sessions are even attended by associates and partners looking to keep their eye in. The group-specific training is infrequent, but you learn most of it on the job. The general trainee induction stuff is mostly what we did on the LPC, etc. and is mostly a refresher thus far."
First year trainee, London
"Pretty good - although some of the sessions could have been more relevant to us."
First year trainee, London
"There is a full range of hard and soft skills training. Most is very well delivered."
Second year trainee, London
"Business development, negotiation, presentations. Regular training across all disciplines."
First year trainee, Abu Dhabi
"The firm has a Learning and Development team who can offer you training on just about anything you want. From drafting skills to 'presenting with confidence'. We also have regular lectures on the latest updates to law from both internal speakers and university lecturers."
Second year trainee, London
"So far so good. Strong emphasis on formal training sessions, in addition to learning on-the-job."
