Offices & Dress

"The offices are nice, well-located and well-equipped. However, some floors are due for refurbishment and it's less pretty than some other firms from the outside."

"Dress code is business attire with a jeans day on a Friday once a month. The office space is OK (the 6th floor is very nice and everyone has a desk that you can either stand up or sit down at) but some of the lower levels and the toilets could do with refurbishment. The brand new conference area and client meeting rooms are excellent."

"The location is excellent (Liverpool Street), really convenient and with lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. The canteen is great and there's a Benugos in the building as well as us having the use of kitchenettes with tea and coffee etc. The dress code is smart but, generally, people are dressed quite comfortably and it isn't that strict."

"It's a brilliant area and we have great canteen food. The gym is 30 seconds from the office and Shoreditch is on your doorstep."

"We're in a fantastic location next to Liverpool Street station and are accessible from many areas of the City. There are shower and bike facilities to encourage people to run or ride to work. Some of the client meeting rooms are currently being renovated and there are some older levels with older carpet but it's generally still functional. There are inner offices without windows, which can be dreary. The dress code Monday to Thursday is business with optional smart casual wear on Fridays."

"Some of the rooms are a little bit dated but facilities are really good. Thankfully, we don't have any sleeping pods. The dress code is, officially, very smart but you can get away with a more casual approach in certain groups like real estate."
First year trainee, London
"The dress code is fairly relaxed, particularly on a Friday and throughout the summer. Not many people wear ties unless they are meeting a client."

"Some areas of the office space are a little tired in comparison to other law firms, but you can't beat HSF on location. It is so well located for transport and socialising – and being close to Shoreditch and East London makes it much more interesting. There isn't a gym or doctor's or sleeping pods on site, but I prefer this. The best gym in London is right next door and one of your flexible benefits is that you can get a hugely discounted membership. There's also a free emergency GP around the corner, which gives you a little bit more privacy with just as much convenience. The dress code is relatively relaxed, especially for women. During the summer and on Fridays, we have a dress down policy. It's important to always anticipate when more casual clothes won't be appropriate though, and where to draw the line."

"The dress code is fairly formal, but there is a summer dress code for July and August."
First year trainee, London
"The office is potentially a tad dated in parts, but a refurbishment is being done. The location is key - Exchange Square is excellent. The subsidised Virgin Active gym (with a swimming pool) on the doorstep is also a plus."
Second year trainee, London
"The dress code is formal but not too formal: men don't wear ties unless they have a client meeting, for instance. The office space is generous and you only share an office with your supervisor. The location is ideal - there are multiple transport links to Liverpool Street station, and the facilities are great (especially the freshly baked cookies you get at client meetings)."
First year trainee, London
"Our location is fantastic, incredibly convenient and surrounded by great spots for eating and drinking. The offices are a little tired but the facilities are more than acceptable. Our dress code is relatively flexible, and we are currently on 'dress down summer' - not that we're having much of a summer!"
Second year trainee, London
"The office is a little bit outdated but it is full of natural light. It is a pleasant place to work. We have a long summer dress policy which is very welcome when the sun is out."

"The dress code is very much what you'd expect: some groups wear ties, some don't. Summer dress down is a plus. The location of our office is another plus; we are between the City and Shoreditch. Facilities are fine."
Second year trainee, London
"We have nice offices, although they are currently undergoing renovation in areas so some bits are better than others. Having two cafés and a restaurant in the building is a big plus. Also a good library system and IT facilities away from your office. Dress code is usually pretty smart but varies between departments. Ties are not required for men unless you're going to a meeting, and suit jackets are not compulsory for women unless going to a meeting."
Second year trainee, London
"Great location, lovely offices and a great gym nearby. The dress code is very accommodating in the summer."
First year trainee, London
"The firm's offices are very well located - right next to Liverpool Street - with good facilities. There's no gym on site but there is one right next door. The dress code is relatively formal with summer dress-down."
First year trainee, London
"Our offices are quite nice, light and airy. In the Corporate department, the dress code is rather casual but this varies from department to department."
First year trainee, London
"The square just outside the office is a great place to eat outside in the summer, and has a large screen which was very well utilised for the football World Cup. The offices themselves are under renovation, the floors that have been done up are nice."
First year trainee, London

"The underside of the building is interesting, but otherwise the offices are nothing to shout home about. Liverpool Street is nicely convenient for the east end though. Facilities are pretty standard, dress code varies between groups, although we're on summer casual at the moment as a firm."
First year trainee, London
"Some offices are nicer than others, depending on whether or not they've got windows! I've been fortunate to sit in offices with windows to date and therefore have always had a pleasant work environment. The client-facing meeting rooms are of a high quality and the central location of the firm is great. The dress code is not as formal as I had expected it to be."
First year trainee, London
"Great location. Offices a little dated and no on-site gym, etc. Dress code varies from department to department. Real estate is on the more casual side."
First year trainee, London
"Offices are comfortable and adequate, but are not as slick as some in the City."
Second year trainee, London
"Dress code not too stuffy. Ugly building, but big desks and big windows."
First year trainee, London
"Abu Dhabi offices are fabulous. London is nice too, although the view can't compare. The dress code is usually suit separates for ladies, and cardigans are a must as the offices are very cold on Monday/Friday."
First year trainee, Abu Dhabi
