Graduate Jobs in Alternative Education
Horizon Teachers are currently recruiting graduates and trainee teachers who are interested in starting their careers in Alternative Education. Special Needs Schools are challenging, fun and sociable places to work where you can make a huge difference to young people's lives. The types of Alternative Education environments vary greatly and include Pupil Referral Units, Complex Needs Schools and Additional Resourced Provisions attached to mainstream schools. Within these settings you could be supporting children with needs such as Autism, Hearing Impairments, Downs Syndrome through to behavioural and social difficulties and more profound physical needs.
Many graduates are attracted to working with children or adults with special educational and/or behavioural needs because of the satisfaction it gives them. The settings can be challenging and demanding but rewarding at the same time. Working in a nurtured environment either in a one to one or small group capacity provides you with opportunities to build strong relationships with students.
Job opportunities within SEN and Alternative Education settings include:
- Teaching Assistant
- 1:1 Teaching Assistant
- BSL Teaching Assistant
- Behaviour Mentor
- School Administrator
These roles can help you develop skills and experience needed for a future career in teaching and other areas within education.
As a company, Horizon Teachers are a friendly, dedicated team of consultants, many of whom have a background in teaching. We take the time to get to know you and you the plans you have for your career.
