Graduate Teaching Assistant
Horizon Teachers are looking for passionate and motivated Graduates to embark on their journey into Education and work as Teaching Assistants at some of London’s best schools. This is an excellent opportunity to work in some of London’s top academies, work alongside excellent teachers, develop skills that can be used in a future teaching career and engage with, motivate and make a difference to student’s achievement.
Horizon Teachers in partnership with some Outstanding schools are looking for motivated graduates who will be able to support students at the schools with a focus in either English, Maths, Science or Humanities. The position will suit graduates with recent degrees and strong A Levels. You will be working within different departments as directed by the Head of Department and the Director of Inclusion/SENCO.
The timetable will be to support students from year 7 through to year 13, you will experience GCSE and A Level teaching so this role would be an excellent opportunity for anyone looking to progress into teaching in the future. You will support in class but also work with students in small targeted intervention groups.
The schools we work with are graded as Outstanding and Good. The schools invest heavily in teaching assistants and a direct link between the quality of support staff and pupil achievement has been seen. Achievement at the schools is excellent and this is due to the hard work of teachers and also the continued support of teaching assistants who play a key role in monitoring progress as well as providing continued support to all students.
Teaching assistants at our schools are provided with regular training sessions and continued professional development. Some of our schools are also able to offer Teacher Training positions and our current teaching assistants have benefitted from this and are moving into teacher training having completed a year as a teaching assistant. A number of teaching assistants, who work for us, in a long term role, successfully progress to Teacher Training. Due to this extensive training previous school experience is not essential but is desirable.
