"We spent five weeks in a hotel in Berkshire with the rest of the graduates from all over the world doing soft/social skills, overview of financial markets, BA/PM training and technical training. There is also a continued learning development scheme when you start your job properly."

"We have the most incredible training with top rated organisations. However although exceedingly insightful some of it seemed slightly more relevant to other roles and I would have appreciated some more training on the different product areas as understanding these is crucial to my role. However, a lot was covered and I certainly learnt about some product areas and the technical training will no doubt come in handy in the future."

"Induction programme was a great experience as we met the grads from global HSBC offices. Soft skills were developed during this time, (working with people of different cultures, for example), as well as some technical info to get us familiar with our work."
Graduate, London
"The graduate training is very rewarding, we received six weeks intensive training in accounting, financial modelling, etc."
Entry level, London
"I have had soft skills training and more technical training relating to other aspects of the job. All training has been well presented and relevant."
Graduate, London
"The informal training is good as colleagues will give you time to explain things. However, I would say the formal training is lacking; once you start on the programme there is very little of it."
Graduate, London
"The induction training is completed with graduates from around the world, providing you with a great opportunity to meet new people and an immediate international network. Once you start your rotations, training is flexible, and you have the opportunity to select training sessions that you feel will benefit you most. Some of the best courses I have attended have been around presentations and influencing people which has been relevant to all of my rotations, particularly business development."

"Most of the training was brilliant, we had a really good set of teachers. The structure of the training was perhaps lacking however."
Graduate, London
"I had five to six weeks of external training. The external vendors who provide the training are excellent."

"GGDP was one of the best training programmes I could have experienced. There are also a lot of opportunities to develop yourself further (e.g. Credit and Risk Course), although these are extremely difficult to attain a place on."
Graduate, London
"The graduate training programme is absolutely superb, both in terms of technical content and the social aspects. The technical training is customised to your business area, and whilst it can be both intense and challenging, it will enable you to hit the ground running once you're on the desk. Perhaps even more importantly, the training programme lets you get to know your fellow graduates from all over the world, which is absolutely invaluable. There is also an excellent offering of follow-on training offered throughout the graduate programme."

"The Global Analyst Induction Programme was a great introduction to the business and a chance to meet colleagues from all over the bank and all over the world. Informal training was very valuable, with optional training classes available."
Graduate, London
"Training was the main highlight of the graduate programme so far for me. The opportunity to spend weeks getting to know all of the graduates from around the world on a residential training programme was one of the best opportunities a graduate could ask for."
Graduate, London
"The initial analyst training is very rigorous and provides a great foundation for working on the desk. There is also ongoing training on a variety of soft skills and well as business knowledge during the analyst programme. All staff also have access to training more specific to their role, which is given on both a mandatory and voluntary basis. As a result, I have significantly improved my business knowledge and awareness, and have become much more confident in communication and presentations."
