I never thought I’d be lucky enough to say that I’m a Technology Consultant at IBM. I feel honoured to be part of a company that has played such critical role in shaping the world and yet is not afraid to reinvent itself. IBM acts as a catalyst to worldwide innovation and, as consultants, we enable companies in every industry to become a better version of themselves (and in our own way make the world a better place).
I studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Warwick and I have always had a natural drive to develop my skills. I love working at a firm that continuously challenges me to be at my best and that gives me the opportunity to learn something new every single day. As a graduate consultant at IBM, I have not only had the opportunity to get a certification for Microsoft offerings but also become a Scrum Master and earn digital badges for areas that are of personal interest to me, such as Design Thinking, Cognitive and Blockchain.
There’s a fantastic work environment here. Everyone is part of a Practice, which not only provides you with an invaluable network but also makes the “IBM giant” feel like a welcoming community. I joined a project team of experienced consultants in which I feel valued and supported. In fact, one of my favourite things at work is that I have mentors who I admire and aspire to be like one day. Everyone I’ve met, both on my project and in the wider IBM world, has been extremely approachable and willing to invest time me, irrespective of their seniority in the company.
The opportunities at IBM are endless and everyone’s journey is different. During my time here, I’ve been able to combine my personal interests with my job by joining a patent group and coming up with new inventions. I’ve helped organise events and I’m taking part in this year’s Corporate Games.
I could not have asked for a better start to my career.
