"More and more departments are going paperless."
Second year trainee, Sheffield
"There are no desk bins in the office and all of the bins are labelled with the various materials that should go in them (paper, plastic, cans, food waste) for recycling. The firm offers schemes to encourage people to get the train by paying for a season ticket outright and deducting the price pre-tax from the employee's wage."
First year trainee, Leeds
"The firm is very active in trying to reduce its carbon footprint and is very keen on encouraging recycling etc. The only drawback in this respect is that we are not yet operating a paperless system so that does have a bit of a negative impact."
First year trainee, Southampton

"Plenty of recycling bins."
First year trainee, London
"We have all different types of recycling bins in all of the kitchens."
First year trainee, London
"The firm encourages employees to cycle if possible and has offered incentives to those doing so. There is also a drive to reduce the amount of paper being used and any paper being thrown away is shredded and recycled, rather than just thrown out."
First year trainee, Sheffield
"Since the merger with Thomas Eggar, Irwin Mitchell has visibly shown a determination to be paperless and I believe that it is going that way as far as possible."
First year trainee, Newbury
"I believe Irwin Mitchell recently won an award for this."
First year trainee, Birmingham

"The firm does promote environmentally friendly practices. For instance, our internal systems allow us to access all file information electronically, enabling us to reduce the amount of paper we use."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"We have recycling bins and print double-sided, but we use minimal paper throughout the offices. There are minimal physical files in some departments."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"We have recycling initiatives and separate bins for each type of waste."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"There are a group of people who monitor this at the firm, and reducing the carbon footprint is one of the firm's initiatives."
First year trainee, Sheffield
"We have recycling bins and paper bins, and we work hard to do as much as possible to reduce the firm's carbon footprint."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"I do not see the firm's efforts to reduce the firm's carbon footprint as over-arching, but they are evident."
First year trainee, Bristol

"The printers have a 'follow me' function which cuts down on paper waste. There are no under desk bins so staff have to take waste to the recycling areas and separate it out. Lights are on a sensor system and switch off if there is no movement."
First year trainee, Leeds
"I don't really know but we do all the recycling, etc. I think they are also involved in the cycle to work scheme and offer season ticket loans for public transport."
Second year trainee, Leeds
"I think they make a lot of effort regarding this, although I am not aware of exactly what efforts have been made."
Second year trainee, Bristol
"IM is committed to reducing their carbon footprint year in, year out and have adopted a new paperlight scheme across the firm to reduce the amount of paper waste. IM is also a member of the Legal Sector Alliance fighting against climate change."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"The firm does quite a lot to reduce its carbon footprint. We have recycling bins on all floors and do not have bins under our desks, so all members of staff have to recycle."
First year trainee, Birmingham
"There are no desk bins and recycling bins are found everywhere. We no longer use paper cups for tea/coffee."
First year trainee, Sheffield
