John Lewis Partnership

The John Lewis Partnership is an award-winning business that combines the esteemed retailers, John Lewis and Waitrose. Our people are Partners. With a share in our business, they have a real say in how we’re run. So for graduates, it’s this responsibility and trust that makes us stand out from the crowd.

We see graduates as future leaders. That’s why we invest so much time in their development. From on-the-job training and more formal learning, to being assigned a mentor ‘buddy’, our graduates are properly taken care of. But we’ll also expect them to be proactive and ambitious, taking charge of their own career development too.

We’re looking for people who go above and beyond, every single time. Our graduates don’t just sit on the sidelines, they get stuck in from day one. Natural problem-solvers, they’ll enjoy a good challenge and always look for ways we can improve.

On our Technology Graduate Scheme, they’ll work on real projects across Business Analysis, Development, Testing, Operations and Project Management. It’s on a rotational basis, so every 3-6 months they’ll change departments, gaining a huge breadth of different experiences. Then after two years, they’ll get to choose their specialist discipline. It’s about understanding our end-to-end responsibilities, and how we craft bespoke IT solutions. Plus, we’ll also enrol them into a number of external accredited training courses, including PRINCE2 for Project Management, and ITIL for Service Management.

The introductory six-week ‘Grad Lab’ sees our talented graduates take on a real commercial challenge, covering everything from investigation and work-shopping to design and build. It’s about diversity of thought, and bringing fresh ideas to the table. Which also means that our graduates don’t need to be technical whizzes to go far on this scheme.

But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what one of graduates had to say about Grad Lab: “It’s been fantastic to gain an oversight of the overall IT process, and it’ll really help to have some familiar touch points when we first enter our new roles.”

Our graduates receive the same great benefits as everyone else at the Partnership. 25 days’ holiday, discounts in John Lewis and Waitrose, and great ticket subsidies. Not to mention the fantastic annual bonus. So if we do well, you’ll do well too.
