Why did you choose the John Lewis Partnership?
I chose the John Lewis Partnership because of its democratic structure, the behaviours it stands for and the emphasis on the happiness of its partners. The values and behaviours the Partnership promotes strongly resonate with me and it is exciting to know that I work for the UK’s largest co-owned business.
What your role does / will involve
The IT Graduate scheme begins with a six week induction project where in groups we will come up with an idea in response to a real business issue and take it through the IT Operating Process. After this project's completion, I will be based in the Bracknell head office completing various assignments within different parts of the IT Department, including Business Analysis, Project Delivery and Strategy & Planning.
What has been your highlight so far?
I have had some great experiences within the Partnership so far, but perhaps the highlight was meeting Sir Charlie Mayfield and getting the opportunity to have an honest conversation about the current challenges the Partnership faces and how technology will be at the heart of the changes required to happen in order to sustain our competitive advantage in this turbulent retail environment.
What do you enjoy the most?
In additon to the amazing food at Bracknell Head Office, I truly enjoy the positive and supportive culture at the Partnership. Every single partner is very friendly and always willing to help.
What support has been provided to you?
I have been assigned a Graduate Buddy that had joined the 2015 IT Graduate scheme. He has helped me a lot even prior to my start date answering any questions I had. I have received additional support from the Graduate commuinity at JLP and from my line manager since I started my new role which was extremely helpful.
