"Obviously, a day in a corporate firm is not always going to end at 6.00 pm. Provided you go in with your eyes open to this, I think the lack of a face-time culture will mean you are mostly pleasantly surprised at your hours."

"The firm is very flexible, people are not unreasonable with allocating work and you tend to control how much you take on."

"As with any law firm, the hours can be long. I tend to leave around 7.30 pm/8.00 pm but have had to work through the night on a few occasions."

"In a week I will typically go home anywhere between 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm (sometimes even 5.30 pm if I can) but might be working until midnight on other nights. I've only had to work one weekend in seven months, which has been a pleasant surprise."

"Apart from once leaving the office at 5.00 am and coming back in at 8.00 am, the hours here have actually been quite good. It just depends on what you're doing at the time. You put in the extra hours when needed. But when you do, it's always a big team effort and it doesn't feel like a burden in any sense."

"This is a corporate law firm so you should be under no illusions. Nevertheless, my firm allows trainees to work remotely so there is some element of flexibility as to where you work."
Second year trainee, London
"Flexibility over hours is excellent for trainees. This is helped by the fact that partners do not generally set demanding deadlines at short notice."
Second year trainee, London
"It's a corporate law firm. My job isn't unending and for some stretches (particularly in the summer) the hours are really civilised. Sometimes they aren't, but I'd say they're probably better than average and certainly don't tally with the apocryphal stories that most trainees who work at American firms peddle to the uninitiated."
