"More partner contact. Non-rotational system can allow you to feel a bit lost sometimes."

"Some brilliant candidates can fall through the cracks of the non-rotational system. For example, they can get tied to an all-encompassing trial or other matter for many months with limited partner contact (longer than the six month maximum in a rotation system). Because partners can choose to work with those trainees they have previously used and worked well with, opportunities for trainees to impress partners in other departments when their long running matter finishes can be limited in the two years. I think the firm could do more to actively manage the non-rotational system for those trainees on long-running matters to ensure they have the opportunity to impress a larger number of partners. I fear we stand to disillusion one or two talented trainees because their training has suffered from this."
