"While there are a number of different roles in the office including partner, senior associate, solicitor, trainee, paralegal, secretary and legal admin, everyone is treated with equal respect. It is a very cooperative and friendly working environment. It is rare if there is not some social event at least once a week."
First year trainee, Cambridge
"The culture is good, as are the hours. However, I think we fall short in the social side of things. Trainees aren't automatically signed up to the trainee law society, which is a shame. I think there could be more of an effort made to improve the social side of work."
Second year trainee, Birmingham
"This varies from team to team. Some teams are more hierarchical and formal than others and some teams are more friendly/laid-back. There is a lot of cooperation and teamwork. There is some socialising among colleagues and no culture of working late."
First year trainee, London
"There's a friendly culture within teams. Partners are generally easy to approach and helpful. Trainees tend to socialise together and some can be a bit competitive around the third seat. We don't have a big culture when it comes to after-work drinks as people tend to go straight home at the end of the day."
Second year trainee, London
"We have very sociable hours and approachable colleagues. Lots of the partners have time to talk to junior lawyers. There are some social events but there could be more."
First year trainee, London
"Kennedys is an open and welcoming firm. Everyone, from associates to senior partners, is always happy to help if you have any queries or concerns. There is room for improvement when it comes to social integration outside of office hours."
First year trainee,
"The general culture is very good. People are friendly and there is a good work/life balance. Some teams are very sociable and get on well, others less so. All of the partners I have worked with have been very approachable and happy to answer your questions."

"The other trainees are very sociable. Team events are encouraged and there are lots of things going on out of hours."
First year trainee, London
"A friendly firm with staff drinks every month. Within our trainee intake, there are also drinks in the Leadenhall Market after work most weeks. Most cases have two or three fee earners attached to them so there is a lot of teamwork involved and communication is key. We have a trial coming up and this has resulted in pulled resources from trainee level to partner to get the prep completed."
First year trainee, London
"The open-plan office makes for a great learning experience. I sit by partners and speak with them like anyone else. There is no inferiority or elitism here."
First year trainee, London
"It's a very friendly office and there is always someone willing to help. The partners are supportive and the senior solicitors give thorough feedback when you undertake work for them. There are monthly office drinks and lots of the staff eat lunch together and meet after work."
First year trainee, Cambridge
"Everyone is friendly during office hours but some teams are more social outside of office hours than others. Trainees generally stick together rather than socialising with the rest of the team. There are staff drinks at the end of the month where everyone gets together and it's more relaxed with everyone being willing to help."
First year trainee, London
"Hours are good with lots of social opportunities. Colleagues of all levels are approachable and team-orientated."
Second year trainee, London
"The firm treats its staff as equals with thoughts and ideas carrying equal value no matter what your position. There is a strong sense of teamwork."
First year trainee, Cambridge
"The culture as a whole is friendly, with some teams being more so than others. Hours are reasonable on the whole with 6.00 pm being a normal time to leave. However, some teams are known for their longer hours. There are some firm-organised social events but things are more usually organised by groups of friends."

"In terms of culture there are friendly staff here. The firm has drinks on the last Thursday of every month, and everyone is invited to attend. We have various sports teams, including a netball team, where any female member of the office can take part."
First year trainee, Sheffield
"Although working hours vary hugely between teams and some are more sociable than others, overall I find that the firm is very sociable."
First year trainee, London
"As a result of the high retention rates I see a culture of inclusiveness and teamwork here."
First year trainee, London
"The hierarchy seems quite democratic to me, with partners taking care of solicitors and trainees. There is a range of socialising - be it whether monthly staff drinks or with clients."
First year trainee, London
"While I find that there is a clear hierarchy here, I find that anyone can be approached about anything. I feel no issue approaching partners and the teamwork between colleagues is second to none."
Second year trainee, London
"During office hours the firm is focused and hard-working. Fee earners at all levels are approachable and are willing to assist trainees where possible. Out of office hours, the social life is what you make of it, and as a group of trainees we try to socialise together as much as possible."
First year trainee, London
"The firm is made up of very friendly and approachable individuals - I feel that we are a good social bunch. I have never felt micromanaged personally, and teamwork is highly encouraged."
First year trainee, London
"The firm is made of friendly, confident and sociable people which is evident at all levels. Teamwork is evident throughout."
First year trainee, Chelmsford
"The working culture in office hours is friendly and in my experience so far, supervisors and partners alike seem to be very approachable. The open-plan office greatly assists this ethos. To me socialising outside of office hours differs between teams but on the whole, it seems to exist throughout the firm. The monthly staff drinks/food put on by firm in top floor conference rooms is a welcoming offering."
First year trainee, London
"Both in the office and after-hours I think that all colleagues are approachable and friendly. There is a clear structure and hierarchy to the system which is easily laid out to you to achieve your goals."
Second year trainee, London

"The advantage of the open-plan office is that it removes hierarchy to a certain extent. The partners are very approachable which encourages you to clarify instructions, and ask questions about tasks to ensure that you produce the right results."
First year trainee, London
"I have found that the atmosphere is convivial and collegiate - everyone is happy to help and there is no silo mentality with regards to helping a colleague."
Second year trainee, London
"There is a very strong, supportive culture lived by all staff and partners. As it's an open-plan office, hierarchy is kept to a minimum."
First year trainee, London
"The culture of the firm is great, supportive and collegiate. Everyone has been really friendly, with after-hours social culture - although this is confined to teams. The environment between the trainees is great since at Kennedys you study the PSC together before starting your first seat, allowing you to bond as a cohort."
First year trainee, London
"Everybody is very supportive and there are lots of socials. You don't have that pressure to go along at all so it's a great mix in my opinion. There is also virtually no elitism here; Partners and all senior solicitors are very down to earth and approachable."
First year trainee, London
"During office hours, team dynamics are great. Although a little hierarchy exists in my opinion, the open-plan office helps to subsidise the effect of this, making everyone within the team, including Partners, approachable and cooperative. Out of office socialising is great, with many events occurring every week and you are free to organise your own."
Second year trainee, London
"The firm has a very strong sense of teamwork!"
First year trainee, Cambridge
"We are very team orientated and make an effort to socialise monthly. There is a friendly atmosphere amongst colleagues."
First year trainee, Taunton
