"We go on externally arranged professional skills courses. Aside from that there hasn't been much in the way of formal learning. It's more learn as you progress, which will suit some people more than formal learning anyway."

"There are lots of additional lectures and seminars that you can attend if you wish."

"The firm encourages trainees to be independent so you learn the area of work quickly."

"The process was changed in our year so, rather than being given two weeks to complete the professional skills course modules, we were given two days before going into our teams – this meant we didn't get much time to get to know each other or do training courses on the systems. However, HR have taken this on board and are planning to improve the system going forward."

"There are in-house seminars from internal and external sources as well as lots of quality supervision and feedback."

"The firm has enrolled us all on the professional skills course and we have picked our own options. We are also studying for the award in London market insurance."

"At the start of my time with the firm I went through a three week training and induction programme in London. Thereafter, I have regularly received training throughout my training contract both through the professional skills course electives and through internal workshops. I have developed numerous non-legal skills including developing client relationships, how to prepare and present effective presentations as well as identifying personality types."
Second year trainee, Sheffield
"I have benefitted most from the one-to-one training with my supervisors"
First year trainee, London
"Training is very impressive here, but I have found that the best training is the informal work on the job and is provided by solicitors/partners in the team."
Second year trainee, London
"I have found that most training occurs on the job, but there is formal training at the beginning of the training contract, and you can always request more if you like."
First year trainee, London
"The introductory training programme for trainees is well-rounded and enjoyable. Additional mandatory learning such as the LLMIT insurance syllabus is particularly useful for those with a limited academic background in insurance law. Regular know-how lunchtime seminars covering different parts of the firm's practices are freely open to all trainees and are in my experience, wholly beneficial."

"Formal training was based on communication, writing, conversing, legal structures, procedure, etc."
First year trainee, Sheffield
"There is a clear emphasis on training at the firm. Solicitors and partners are always inviting you to attend client meetings, and seminars from experts and counsel."
First year trainee, London
"We have a week long induction to the firm and then regular updated training sessions both online and in person."
First year trainee, London
"There are various internal training programmes which solicitors can partake in, such as seminars and workshops. However, as I am only four weeks in this question is quite difficult to answer right now."
First year trainee, London
"So far, the training has been perfect - we received lots of training before we started (on top of the PSC). We also do various industry exams and training which is great for setting you apart from the other trainees coming with NQ's in the industry."
