Trainee Retention

9.2 / 10

(based on 13 ratings in 2015)

2015

"I have been offered a job. The retention rates at Kennedys are extremely high and it is very rare that a trainee will not be offered a position. Many firms higher a lot of trainees but do not have positions for them on qualification. However, Kennedys appears to take a different approach, hiring fewer trainees but retaining the majority."

"Retention rates are generally very high, and I feel that the firm does what it can to find a place for everyone."

"They are excellent and the retention rates reflect the firm's commitment to training solicitors."

"There are excellent retention rates at the firm, and from my experience they usually stand at 100% unless someone actually wants to leave."
First year trainee, London
"The only time people tend not to be kept on is if they are dead set on a particular seat and there's no space available so they choose to leave."
First year trainee, London
"Although there will be competition for first choice teams, as with all firms, Kennedys has a strong track record for trainee retention rates standing at 90-100%."

"Kennedys hire to keep. This means that the trainees do not feel that they have to compete with each other, which means that we feel very able to help each other."
Second year trainee, London
"Retention rates are usually 100% unless someone chooses to leave."
First year trainee, London
"The retention rate is great at the firm - they try to find a place for you in your current office first. If this cannot be done, they will try to find a place for you in another office. They do not like to cut trainees loose."
First year trainee, London
"The firms work is increasing faster than they can get new people in. In fact, in the past few weeks in my department alone we've had two new joiners. It's a good firm to be in for career prospects at the moment."
First year trainee, London
"Retention rate has been on average 100% for the past few years - so it is promising to see that the firm invests time and money in trainees that they trust."
