The firm offers comprehensive tax and environmental advice for complex multi-jurisdictional transactions and disputes.

The firm’s highly regarded London disputes practice boasts renowned litigators who focus on complex cross-border disputes, international and domestic litigation, civil fraud, banking litigation, international arbitration, public international law, export controls, as well as sanctions and crisis management.

Latham & Watkins also has a long history of providing pro-bono work for those in need and in 2015 the firm donated time worth $118 million to pro-bono matters worldwide.

Training programme

Latham offers  a very different training experience to that of its competitors. Each trainee receives bespoke supervision and outstanding support while being afforded meaningful responsibility from the outset and significant legal experience on qualification. In addition to training organised by each department, trainees also benefit from a core ‘trainee foundation’ curriculum designed to bridge the gap between law school and practice.  The firm  recruits trainees with a view to retaining them upon qualification and average retention over the last five years has been 93%.

Work placements

The firm runs two vacation schemes every year, each lasting two weeks. Participants spent time with different practice areas, gaining invaluable experience involving real work with real clients.
