Graduate Test Equipment Engineer Job Description

Graduate Engineers will be given the opportunity to work in integrated product teams (IPT) developing state-of-the-art test solutions for our radar and electro-optic products. Graduate engineers, in general will report to a senior engineer who will provide them with day to day guidance and on the job training. They will be introduced to the development processes utilising state-of-the-art methods, technology and tools. Graduate engineers are encouraged to gain experience of all aspects of the development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, applied research and test.

Graduates applying for this position should expect to focus in the area of Test System Design which utilises skills chiefly in the electronics arena but also in the area of the National Instruments LabView toolset.

Key Responsibilities

To actively participate in the Graduate Development Programme over 2 years.

To learn the skills required for equipment development. This includes developing practical skills in advanced design techniques for aerospace applications, understanding of key technologies, developing experience using LabView toolset.

Graduates are given the opportunity to explore a number of the aspects of the development lifecycle during their time in the graduate development framework. This includes requirements analysis and definition, design, implementation, integration, test and through life support.

Most training will be delivered via on the job experience whilst working on real production hardware within project groups delivering sensor systems to our customers. Additional formal technical training to augment the on the job training will be provided via taught courses dependent upon the business need and also on the career direction of the individual.

Role Requirements

Must have obtained or are predicted to obtain a minimum of an upper second class honours BEng (Hons) / BSc (Hons) degree in a relevant discipline (Electrical and Electronic engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering science)

Applications are also welcomed from candidates holding a BEng/BSc Degree in electronics or related discipline who also have relevant industrial experience.

You must be able to obtain SC security clearance (if necessary) and have a minimum of 5 years permanent residency in the UK.

The role requires access to UK Caveated information; therefore the candidate will be required to have either sole or dual UK nationality.

Candidates are required to demonstrate personal ownership and responsibility for their work, team working skills, technical excellence, creative problem solving ability and leadership potential.

What can I expect from my working environment?

This is a mainly office based role using display screen equipment; however the successful candidate may also have to work in development labs. The successful candidate will be expected to work full time hours in a flexible and demanding environment.
