Procurement Officer – Summer Intern
Description of Business Environment
The Department provides General Procurement support to in excess of five hundred personnel engaged on numerous MoD and Commercial contracts in a technology business.
Specific Job Description
The IT is responsible for conducting and supporting procurement activities related to the acquisition of general goods and services to meet programme schedule, quality and cost objectives. Responsibilities include, assisting the buyers in developing and implementing purchasing strategies in conjunction with the project management team to satisfy programme objectives; assist in negotiating non-standard terms and purchase agreements as required to meet set objectives; supporting the department in related activities throughout the procurement life cycle including the provision of administrative support. Support to Business Practices in processing Non Disclosure Agreements.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

- Be numerate
- Tact and diplomacy
The following skills are preferable but not essential at the commencement of this role:
- Negotiation planning and execution
- Presentation planning and execution
This vacancy requires all successful candidates to be processed for a HM Government security clearance, which stipulates, at a minimum, that the applicant must have been a resident in the UK for at least the last five years.
Typical minimum education & experience: Candidates would typically be studying for a degree or equivalent in one of the following:
Purchasing, finance, business administration and contract law. Knowledge of additional functional areas such as engineering, manufacturing and production control would be an advantage Strong inter-personal skills indicating an aptitude for independence and leadership combined with ability for working in a team environment.
Standard Job Description
