Our airports are multi-award-winning businesses responsible for directly employing, training and developing thousands of people . MAG is proud of its commitment to a healthy graduate and apprentice programme. These programmes give young people the opportunity to enter our business in position that compliments their career aspirations and offer industry leading training.
Throughout the two-year programme, you will complete a number of different placements to really understand the different ways in which the Assets team supports our business. You could complete placements in the following teams;
You will work with in partnership with key business stakeholders to transform an initial business requirement into a final product. You will look to develop solutions that optimise cost, risk, service/performance and sustainability, determining the best strategies for meeting business outcomes. You will then prioritise schemes across the airport for investment, balancing different departmental needs and working within financial and regulatory constraints. As the chosen projects progress, you will also work closely with our Engineering Services team who deliver the projects, representing your business stakeholders throughout the process.
In this team you could be working alongside our Asset Maintenance Leads, providing technical expertise and direction to the maintenance delivery teams in terms of optimal maintenance strategy. You will contribute to developing the asset standards, innovation and best practise across the group, as well as monitor the performance and condition of the asset base, reporting on asset health and driving the improvement of asset data.
You could also spend time working on a project in our Utilities team, supporting day to day management of the airports utilities and distribution networks and carrying out site surveys. And our Environments team could see you working on the implementation of sustainable and environmental strategies that ensure continued operation and availability of the airport in a sustainable manner.
Our Asset Maintenance team proactively ensure that the Airports engineered systems, equipment, services and facilities remain operational within specified safety, legislative, quality, environmental and performance standards and targets. They undertake planned and reactive maintenance work on airport infrastructure to ensure optimum availability and serviceability of assets which meets agreed service levels and provides a trouble free operational environment for our customers.
A placement within the Asset Maintenance team could see you supporting on a project within Facilities Management, or even line managing a small team of technicians towards the end of your Graduate programme.
During the programme you will also get the opportunity to experience our operation first hand by completing a series of ‘back to the floor’ experiences where you will be able to build on your understanding of how the business works and how Assets fits into the picture.
MAG will also support you with gaining accreditation from Institute of Asset Management during the graduate programme.
To join us as an Assets Graduate you’ll need to bring with you a minimum of a 2:1 in a related degree like Engineering, or in a discipline with a strong numeric background, and some relevant work experience would be advantageous.
You’ll need to have excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail, understanding the importance of process and structure. Stakeholder management is important too, and you will need to be a confident communicator who is able to engage with and influence a broad range of stakeholders. In addition, you will have the potential to lead, engage and inspire large teams of people.
