Matrix was set up in 2000 in response to the changing face of the legal landscape at that time. We wanted to achieve a different working model from the traditional English barristers’ chambers and, at the time of our establishment, we were labelled “the future of the Bar”. We are proud of our record of innovation and our reputation as a professional and approachable set. Our actions are guided by our core values, which outline our principles as an organisation and govern how we work. We operate within a modern environment where diversity, accessibility and client care are widely championed.
Matrix acts for private and public clients and has particular expertise in 28 practice areas including: commercial, competition, crime, data protection, defamation, discrimination, education, employment, environmental, extradition, fraud, freedom of information, human rights, immigration nationality and asylum, international arbitration, local government, public and administrative law, media, mutual assistance, prison, social welfare, and sports law.
Matrix has a strong international presence, acting in more than 114 countries for governments, international corporations, legal firms and individuals. We have an office in Geneva and a dedicated brand for our international work, known as ‘Matrix International’.
We have more than 80 members at Matrix, with varying years of call and areas of expertise and we have 2 current trainees. Since its foundation, Matrix has offered membership to 26 of the 35 individuals who have completed their traineeship.
