Digital Creative Designer

The Role

We are looking for a talented creative to sit in our programmatic display campaign team, which is one of the fastest growing and most highly respected in the UK and Europe.

You may be wondering what programmatic display is. Well put simply, programmatic display is a way of advertising online to targeted consumers. Users browsing the internet could see programmatic display banner ads, and the advertisers pay for the serving of those ads. The designing of these ads will make up a significant part of your workload.

Programmatic will be just half of the story though. Whilst you will be sitting with in the programmatic team you will also be exposed to projects across our other departments including Social, Search, HR and Analytics. There is always a demand for creative and graphic design work here, so there will always be an exciting range of projects to get stuck in to. 

You will work with colleagues and clients to understand creative briefs and formulate a project plan around these briefs. You will be responsible for coming up with concepts and designs, whether that be for a Social media ad, a Dynamic programmatic creative or a PowerPoint deck to be shown to the entire of Merkle. You will liaise directly with clients, building strong relationships with them and ensuring their brief has been satisfied.

Previous experience in digital marketing or programmatic advertising is not required, as we provide a comprehensive six-week structured training program, however a graphic design background is essential. It may feel like a lot to take in at first but you’ll be up to scratch in no time.

The Individual

As such, we’re looking for enthusiastic people who are comfortable managing their own time, able to effectively prioritise work and recognise problems and opportunities to seek support as necessary.

We don’t need you to have worked in digital marketing before but there are some key requirements. Everyone that works in our team has their own clients which means that strong written and verbal communications are a requisite, as well as confidence in dealing with people at a range of different levels. You’re going to be doing creative work day in and day out, so a graphic design background and a passion for design is key. Similarly, creative problem solving and team work will come in handy – we are firm believers in creative brain storming and collaboration! Finally – passion, ambition and curiosity are all great traits in any candidate as they demonstrate your ability to be a good team-player who will contribute to our ongoing success.

To demonstrate the above, we’re looking for someone who loves design and who enjoys the thought of working in a progressive landscape. They must also have the following:

  • A degree classification of 2:1 or above in Graphic Design or similar
  • An online portfolio of previous work
  • Language skills are a huge plus, except perhaps Latin or Klingon.

The Package

We offer starting salaries of £22,000-25,000 depending on experience (think of all the Pot Noodles!) and an excellent package including 25 days’ holiday, a mobile phone and a company pension scheme.
