"The hierarchy is relatively flat. The office is generally friendly and encouraging but not always fully inclusive socially."
HR, Graduate, London
"Very flat hierarchy allows easy exposure to very senior and experienced personnel, which makes you feel more at ease in the organisation. Everyone is willing to help. After hours social scene is superb."
Graduate, London
"Everyone is sociable and friendly."

"M&G has one of the best work cultures as it is a very nurturing and productive environment. There is a flat hierarchy, which means that it doesn't matter as much what your level or seniority is in the company. If you have a good idea or question, you can share them. I find it a very supportive environment and also enjoy going to the office each day."
Graduate, London
"The culture and people are very open, friendly and helpful. There's a mix of people from different backgrounds and nationalities making it very diverse. There is a formal hierarchical structure but everyone is approachable and helpful if need be. Different teams within the function tend to exchange information on a regular basis making it a collaborative environment where many people from different teams work together."
Finance, Graduate, London
"The culture is very friendly, with managers being very approachable. Some teams are very sociable, with others less so. Overall the organisational structure is quite flat."
Graduate, London
"Extremely flat structure. You can send an email to anybody and they'll reply. Everybody is very open and ready to help. There is a lot of interaction across teams, especially on major projects."
Graduate, London
"Plenty of out of office activities to take part in. People are generally very friendly and willing to give you their time."

"The structure is extremely flat within the organisation and almost anyone is free to be able to talk to."
Graduate, London
"Flat structure. A lot of work involves people from different teams, allowing you to meet very senior people from different divisions early on. Everyone is also (usually) up for some fun after work."
Graduate, London
"Hierarchy is totally flat. The office is all open-plan and anyone can speak to anyone else. Even very senior fund managers go on the tea run every so often. Each team is its own universe so the culture is different from team to team. Some teams work together very strongly, others have individuals doing their own thing and rarely have team meetings. There is generally the ability to be proactive about finding new work for graduates. After hours, most teams I have worked with generally just go home. A social activity might happen a few times a year, usually involving a trip to the pub."
Graduate, London
"Driven worth ethic but relaxed environment. Senior employees don't brush off younger ones if you have valid questions. Plenty of social events outside of work to attend."
Graduate, London
"Rarely have to work excessive hours. Good social work balance. Helpful people around me. Flat management structure."
Graduate, London
"M&G didn't fire a single employee during the financial crisis - very good culture, everyone is like a family."
Graduate, London
"M&G’s flat corporate structure is highly beneficial for graduates as your opinions are listened to and valued by managers of all levels of seniority. Teamwork is crucial across the business, with each department having a real sense of team spirit and purpose in striving for the best possible results. Socialising with colleagues over lunch, throughout the day and outside of the office is vital in building a network and something which is actively encouraged. It is yet another example of what makes M&G such a fantastic place to work!"
