"This depends on the team. Some investment teams work from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm but the average is perhaps 8.30 am to 6.00 pm and some deal-based teams can work longer. I think the hours are very good when compared with other finance jobs/companies in the City. I think working from home one day every week or two is becoming more commonplace but isn't really feasible for a graduate."

"My manager is very flexible whenever I need time off for things."

"My hours are very flexible and there's not much of a face-time culture. The more efficient you are, the less you stay in the office."

"My employer is very flexible. When I have needed to leave early on a Friday to catch a flight, my manager has been okay with it provided my work is finished."
London
"There is definitely a good work/life balance in this company and average working hours are 9.00 am to 6.00 pm (though this varies between teams). Working from home is also an option and one that is not frowned upon."

"I usually get in the office around 7.00 am and leave at about 5.30 pm. M&G is quite flexible and ready to accommodate employees' needs."
Graduate, London
"It depends on the team really but hours are pretty good. Usually 8.30 am to 6.30 pm."
Graduate, London
"There is no pressure to put in extremely long hours. General office hours are acceptable so long as the quality of work is high."

"M&G is very flexible in regards to work hours. My average working hours have been from 8.30 am until 6.00 pm. I have had to stay until later (9.30 pm has been the latest) during certain projects but I'm never unwilling to do this given the interesting work I'm assigned and the fact that these occasions have been rare."

"I work a solid 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. My employers are understanding if I want to go to the gym during lunch and have even scheduled meetings accordingly!"

"Some roles are pretty much 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. I work 8.30 am – 7.30 pm. Investment scheme roles can be longer, but not comparable to investment banking."
Graduate, London
"I'm usually in 9.00 am – 5.30 pm although there are never any problems if you want to leave at 5.00 pm. This can vary between departments and business units. Flexible working hours are available on request."

"No complaints at all. There's no rigidity and you are allowed to take full responsibility for your hours as long as you get your job done. Very flexible regarding working from home etc."
Graduate, London
"Normal days are a relatively standard 9.00 am – 5.00 pm. I have worked much later when required (9.00 pm/10.00 pm some evenings) but this is by no means expected. Where necessary you have the ability to work from home, which is extremely useful. Hours are fairly rigid in general but there is flexibility if required."
Graduate, London
"My work hours are roughly 8.30 am until 5.30 pm. They vary at times so are not fixed. The hours are flexible, as long as you are able to get your work done."
Finance, Graduate, London
"Hours vary between teams but are reasonable across M&G. Different teams have varying levels of flexibility with many allowing employees to work from home."

"Depends on department and managers but generally very good."

"M&G strongly encourages a good work/life balance, which is reflected in flexible working hours, which are not too long when compared to many other Financial Services firms."

"Hours are team dependent - some teams work longer hours than others."
Graduate, London
"Difficult to answer, as there are many requirements which revolve around being in the office. However, there is certainly room for flexibility."

"Technically my hours are 9:00am-5:00pm, but I get in and leave about 40 minutes earlier and later."
Graduate, London
"Usually 8:00am till 6:30pm, occasionally past 8:00pm. Very flexible - as long as you get the work done, nobody checks when you're in or out."
Graduate, London
"Usually the work hours are 9:00am-6:00pm. However I am content working longer hours due to the interesting and challenging work that is given to me. During quarter ends, work hours can increase, however it all comes down to productivity and planning ahead. The company is very flexible with work hours, especially during study leave periods."
Graduate, London
"The hours at M&G are excellent for a financial institution and we do not have the 'face-time' culture that other organisations have. You need to spend as much time as it takes for you do your work and you also can work from home if needs be."
Graduate, London
"Hours are highly variable depending on whether we have a deal on. Can make studying (CFA) and planning social life a challenge. Generally reasonable hours (8:30am-6:30pm)."
