Based in London with an office in New York, Mishcon de Reya services an international community of clients and provides advice in situations where the constraints of geography often do not apply. The work we undertake is cross-border, multi-jurisdictional and complex. Mishcon de Reya has grown rapidly in recent years, showing more than 100% revenue growth since 2010. In 2015, the firm moved into a purpose designed building on Kingsway, enabling all fee-earners to be under the same roof for the first time in some years. The firm has also recently converted to both an alternative business structure and LLP. Mishcon de Reya prides itself not only on the diverse range of legal services that it offers as a practice, but also on the diverse range of people who provide those services. It’s not an accident on our list of core competencies that we look for in a trainee, “generosity of spirit” actually comes before “motivation” and “drive”.

On the training contract Trainees gain experience, skills and knowledge from across the firm in four six-month seats. These include both contentious and non-contentious work. Because of the relatively few training contracts offered, trainees can be exposed to high-quality work with early responsibility. Trainees are supported with a training and development programme and extensive internal training, in addition to the professional skills course. Trainee performance is monitored closely and trainees can expect to receive regular feedback in addition to mid- and end-of-seat appraisals.


Where training contracts are secured prior to course completion, GDL and LPC fees sponsored, plus a £6000 bursary during GDL and LPC year.

Vacation Schemes

We recruit all of our trainees through our vacation scheme.  Our Spring and Summer schemes run for two weeks, you will spend each week in a different department, allowing you to compare two areas of legal work. In previous schemes our students have been given drafting to complete, attend client meetings, been present at court, completed research and assisted our Partners and fee-earners with a whole host of other tasks. We aim to give our vacation scheme students a taste of what trainee life at Mishcon is life.

On your first day you will attend a half day induction to give you further information about the rest of your programmes and receive training on our IT systems. You will get to meet our current trainees on your first day too. During your second week you will also attend a training contract assessment day.

We hold social events on a couple of the evenings to allow you to get to know each other out of the office. Those attending the Summer schemes are also invited to the Mishcon firmwide Summer party.
