Motability Operations Ltd is not a large company but is incredibly successful and provides fantastic opportunities for its employees. I chose Motability Operations because of their focus on excellent customer service and the drive for continuous improvement. I was really impressed by the company’s attention to detail and commitment to selecting the right people to support the company and its values.

The graduate scheme at Motability Operations Ltd is made up of three placements of approximately six months each. I am currently completing my second placement within the Customer Services Communication and Training Team. Day to day the role involves coordinating and distributing updates and messages throughout the Commercial Division as well as maintaining and updating our internal knowledge management tool, process maps, forms, contact lists and intranet pages. As part of the graduate scheme you are also given additional responsibilities and for this placement mine is a project to reduce internal call traffic. As part of this role I have received training on technical skills including coding and also soft skills such as communication and project management.

Motability Operations Ltd is a welcoming and supportive business and the scheme enables you to be independent, autonomous and innovative. I manage my own time and have the freedom to explore my own relationships, opportunities and placements across the whole business. The graduate programme also provides a robust support structure with each graduate having a Sponsor (usually the Director of a Division), a Mentor (usually the Head of a Function) and a Buddy (a graduate from a previous intake) to help with any issues and provide guidance and advice.

In my opinion the best thing about Motability Operations Ltd is that it is a dynamic and proactive company. Where some businesses may be tentative towards or slow to implement change, we are constantly reviewing, amending and improving to provide the best service in the most efficient way. This sometimes throws you a curveball if you have a set a personal goal but then the work flow or priorities change but it’s a valuable skill to be versatile, open minded and understand the bigger picture. The company is also great at giving feedback so you know how you are progressing and, whilst you are ultimately responsible for managing your own development, they will assist you however they can.

Finally, I like working for Motability Operations Ltd because there is a constant buzz of hard work, commitment and enthusiasm. I enjoy the challenge of and the satisfaction from doing a job well and that is what “MO” is all about.
