"My contract is 36 hours per week. Sometimes I like to work 8:00am-4:00pm, sometimes, 10:00am-6:00pm and when I need to I will work 8:00am-8:00pm. When there are periods that require longer working hours, I am able to get some time back by taking a day of flexi-leave when it is less busy."

"I work approximately 37 hours a work. Local government is extremely flexible in terms of working hours. I can largely start and finish work whenever suits me best, and managers are very sympathetic if you need to take a day off and work to make up the hours later."

"I am able to work flexi-time on my standard hours of 8:00am-6:00pm, and I can work from home."
"We have flexible working arrangements, meaning that I am able to balance my work/home life well."
Graduate, London
"I am contracted to work 35 hours per week, which works out at 7.5 hours per day (including a lunch break). I am on flexi-time, which means that if I work over my hours one week, I can work less hours the next. In reality, I find that I work more hours than I am contracted for, and do not take my flexi-time but this is partly due to the hectic teams I work in. Others are better at managing their time, particularly in relation to childcare."

"My working hours are extremely flexible. I think pretty much every staff member has a slightly different working arrangement to suit their lives. I work 8:30am-4:30pm with one day a week working from home, so that I can be a carer for an elderly relative at the same time. My manager was completely understanding and empathic when we were discussing how to make it work."
Graduate, London
"I work a flexible 37 hours a week. My core hours are 10:00am-4:00pm. I am working more hours currently because I want to get established."

"I work more than my 37.5 hours on average, but I am often out of the office before 6:30pm. The Council has a good flexibility when it comes to working hours."
Graduate, Ipswich
"My core hours are from 10:00am to 4:00pm, although most people work 9:00am to 5:30pm, and there is the flexibility to work earlier/later or from home. I am trusted to spend the right amount of time in the office."
Graduate, London
"Hours vary immensely, but overall I am very happy. We work longer hours when the work requires it, but we are also able to have flexi-time."
Midlevel, London
"Local Government has been very flexible with my hours. I work 37 hour weeks but this can actually fluctuate in either direction. For example, I may be required to work a weekend but then I can take two days off mid-week later that month."
Entry level, Sheffield
"I work on flexi-time, generally from 9:00am to 5:00pm, but it gives me the ability to finish early or work later on some days."
Graduate, London
"The company are very flexible when it comes to working hours; my core working hours are from 10:00am to 12:00pm and 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Other than that, we are free to work our hours as and when we choose, providing it does not conflict with work. We can accrue flexi-time and take up to one flexi day per four week period."
Graduate, Dorking, Surrey
"Flexi-time allows us to bank an additional twelve hours over four weeks, or be eight hours under. Great flexible working means I can work longer to meet deadlines, but also finish earlier if I have completed my tasks."
