I always wanted to join a big company and it doesn’t get bigger than Nestlé. So I joined the Nestlé Academy summer internship back in 2016 and came onto the graduate scheme in 2017. Now, I’m the Assistant Brand Manager for ‘Dry Cat Brands’ Go-Cat and Purina ONE.

What that means is supporting the Senior Brand Manager in implementing the brand plans. So I work on various projects simultaneously and cross-functionally and with external agencies. Projects can be large or small scale, from ensuring our TV campaigns go out on time to overseeing the recording of radio adverts or evolving our brand packaging.

I love being able to see the impact and tangible benefits of the work I do. Walking into supermarkets and seeing my product sitting on the shelf never loses its sparkle! And when a TV ad I’ve been involved in comes on in the Corrie or Love Island ad break, it’s just surreal. These are large scale projects!

I’ve been lucky enough to travel to Switzerland and Barcelona with Purina. The latter was a great experience as it was Brand Planning Week, where every market in Europe came and presented their brand plans. If you love that kind of creativity and are ready to do plenty of research before you get here, it’s a great opportunity to be given a lot of responsibility within a short space of time.
