An exciting one year rotational Finance placement opportunity has arisen here at the New Look support centre based in Weymouth. Finance is a fundamental part of New Look. Not only is this department responsible for processing transactions to keep the ‘cogs’ of the business turning and tracking and reporting the performance of the business, it’s also where the management team goes for insight and guidance. As part of this programme, we’re looking for future leaders who can operate in this fast-paced, high performing environment.
Within your Finance placement, you'll be spending time on the following departments, INCLUDING:
Analysis of trading patterns and store performance. Will involve some time in store to understand operations
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and production of statutory accounts along with general ledger reconciliations
Cash management and investments and well as liaising with investors as part of our Investor Relations team
Including both Corporate Tax and VAT computations
Involved in Corporate Governance, Business Continuity & Health and Safety risk assessments and legislation
Analysing stock loss results and audit requirements in store
Cost efficiency review and retendering of contracts
Review of store rent and rates liabilities and Landlord negotiation
Property Project team
Understanding of store refit costs and Quantity Surveyor information. Controlling project spend within budget
Involved in maintenance assessments for stores and landlord obligations. Undertake assessments and cost accordingly and manage to budget.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- A proactive approach to problem solving
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and enthusiasm are also essential to succeed in this role, as is the ability to work to strict deadlines
- Have a strong and keen interest in finance and an analytical mind-set
- Fantastic communication skills with the ability to tailor style to different audiences
- Great numerical skills
- An appetite to learn and progress during your time with us
- To be currently studying an analytical or finance degree
- To be free from the 24th July 2018
