"The pay has been increased over the past few years to come more in line with the Magic Circle firms, so that is a definite plus. We haven't been exposed to the bonus structure yet."
First year trainee, London
"Bonuses could be better but pay is good and there is fairly quick progression, although experience/merit should count more than Post-Qualified Experience."
Second year trainee, London
"I believe that it would be better if trainees could get bonuses, however, in Paris I get a supplement to my salary which is very generous."
First year trainee, Paris
"I think that my salary is competitive."
Second year trainee, London
"I am very satisfied with my pay. There have been two pay rises since I was employed."

"I think the pay is in line with the rest of the City law firms. I'm very happy with it."
Second year trainee, London
"The salary is fine, but it's not as good as Magic Circle or American firms, and I don't feasibly see how we could work any more hours in a day than some of us currently do."
Second year trainee, Sydney
"Bonuses could be better and perhaps offered, on a limited basis, to trainees. The pay as a trainee is very good. It lags behind other firms of the same calibre at associate level."
Second year trainee, London
"I think our compensation package is fairly standard and it is more likely to be the work and culture here than pay that really attracts people."
Second year trainee, London
"It is in line with other firms. I do not get a bonus as a trainee."
First year trainee, London
"The pay is really good, it increases from first year to second year trainees. It is then reviewed annually when you are an associate."
First year trainee, London

2013

"Excellent pay like most City firms. Bonus structure is lacking depending on what team you are in, but made up for by the quality of people you get to work with."
Second year trainee, London
"There is no internal discussion re pay and bonuses for trainees so I've not thought about it much. Being a trainee during the recession means you've got to be grateful for what you get!"
First year trainee, London
"Competitive salary, discretionary bonus received for intense period worked."
First year trainee, London
