nucleargraduates 2017 - Organisational Psychology

nucleargraduates is a ground-breaking graduate development scheme created by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and sponsored by many leading organisations from across the nuclear industry.

This two year programme consists of three secondments; you can expect to find yourself working across the industry on-site, with the private sector supply chain, with Government and regulatory authorities. Graduates may also have the possibility of going on an international secondment. Structured training is provided to allow you to develop both your technical and behavioural skills building personal and professional development. The nucleargraduates programme is fully backed with professional support to move you towards recognised qualifications supported by a dedicated mentor.

On top of this graduates joining the programme spend 10% of their time dedicated to the Footprints CSR programme – there will be an opportunity to work with local schools, groups and businesses to give something back to the communities in which our sites are based.

The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) independently regulates nuclear safety and security at 37 nuclear licensed sites across the UK. They are also responsible for the regulation of transport and the safeguarding of nuclear and radioactive materials with a duty to ensure that the nuclear industry controls its hazards effectively, has a culture of continuous improvement and maintains high standards.

The nuclear industry is undergoing rapid change and ONR’s role as a regulator is vital in ensuring new nuclear facilities are designed, built and operated to the highest standards, and in a manner that improves public confidence without compromising safety or security. Also overseeing the decommissioning of nuclear sites and cooperating with international regulators their work is critical to the protection of society at large.

The Office of Nuclear Regulation is looking to sponsor graduates through the nucleargraduates programme. Upon completion of the two year programme those chosen will start employment with the Office for Nuclear Regulation to continue their career and professional development in order to become a Nuclear Safety Inspector.

Working within the ‘leadership and management for safety ‘specialism you will provide specialist support to ONR programmes on the impacts of organisational factors such as culture, leadership, organisational design etc. on the safety performance of the nuclear licensee, and to ensure that progress is made to improve matters where needed.

Now is the time to explore this exceptional opportunity...
