Opus Energy

Opus Energy

Since 2002, we’ve been delivering outstanding levels of service, embracing renewable energy sources and providing competitively priced energy. We have received numerous awards, including being named Utilities Provider of the Year 2017 by the British Small Business Awards.

In July 2015, Opus Energy broke the dominance of the ‘Big Six’ energy suppliers in the business market, positioning the company as the sixth largest supplier in the business market. We currently provide energy to over 310,000 businesses, including small and medium sized enterprises, large corporations and institutions. Our clientèle includes big names such as: Virgin Media, Halfords, LEON and White Stuff.

As one of the leading independent energy suppliers in the UK, we are committed to providing a competitive source of energy, combined with accurate billing, and efficient customer service. Between 2014 and 2016, 93% of the energy supplied to our customers came from cleaner, low-carbon sources.

Drax Group plc, which is playing a vital role in helping change the way energy is generated, supplied and used as the UK moves to a low carbon future, purchased Opus Energy in February 2017.

Our Graduate Programmes

At Opus Energy, we run Graduate programmes in three key areas of our business – Commercial Analysis, Business and IT. Roles within these programmes are exciting and varied, and you will be supported throughout your time here.

Our programmes last between two to three years and consist of three to six-month long rotations within the various areas of the business. These rotations are designed to provide you with vital exposure to key areas of our innovative and growing company. All of our graduates are guaranteed a permanent role at the end of their chosen programme.

Analyst Programme – 2 Years

Our analysts carry out a wide range of tasks designed to help keep the company on track including keeping track of all the complex costs of energy supply, helping to set prices and future strategy and forecasting future energy supply. You’ll work with a wide variety of teams, including Operations, Renewable Energy and Sales. Within your team you’ll be assigned a mentor who joined the company as a graduate analyst themselves, who will provide you with support and advice. In addition, you’ll receive regular training courses to equip you with the skills you need to succeed. The programme is primarily based in our Oxford office, with placements in our Northampton office.

IT Programme – 2 Years

The scheme is an exciting opportunity for graduates to gain experience across the entire IT function of Opus Energy. Successful graduates will rotate across the various teams that are based within Application Development and IT Service Management.

Our Application Development team plays a key role in the day to day success of Opus Energy. They are responsible for the development and testing of our internal applications and external portals that we provide to our customers.

When working within IT Service Management, you’ll play an important part in providing the infrastructure that hosts our system and day to day IT processes. This area is vital in supporting the day to day IT requirements of all Opus Energy employees.

Business Programme – 3 Years

Graduates will be given the opportunity to spend time in Sales, Customer Operations, Credit Control and Business Change departments, gaining an understanding into each area that contributes towards our customers' journey and the ongoing growth of the company. Each business area will enable you to develop a broad skill set and gain an understanding of a wide scope of the business. In addition, you will build upon your strengths and development areas which will help you to shape an idea of what you’d like to focus on for your future career at Opus.
