"In the office there are strong team relationships. Whilst there is a high level of respect for seniors, the hierarchy is not strict. Trainees normally socialize on a Friday and there are other monthly firm-wide social events as well as department events."

"I think the firm has a nice culture. Within teams people tend to get on well and are supportive of each other. The firm is not overly hierarchical either. Most people at the junior end are happy to go to the pub together after work a couple of nights a week, work permitting. Different practice groups could interact more."
Second year trainee, London
"The individual teams can be sociable but normally the hours get in the way of having much of a life outside of the office. There is a significant divide between the departments on the 7th and 8th floors which can make it hard as a trainee to move between departments."

"It is a generally friendly and supportive culture, as a first seat trainee I have been very impressed with the level of support I have received. There is the recognition that we are all part of a team and everyone pulls their weight to help each other along the way. Everyone works hard, but try to meet up for drinks whenever possible to catch up!"

"The firm is genuinely friendly and welcoming to trainees. There is an open atmosphere - almost everyone in the firm is approachable and will entertain the most basic enquiries. I have had wonderful support - there is a constant dialogue with my supervisor which has accelerated my learning and colleagues in other departments have stayed late on a Friday to help me out. The trainees regularly arrange social events amongst themselves and the firm social events, while apparently less frequent, have been fun and a good way to meet others in the firm."

"Due to the hours occasionally being quite long, I have not experienced much socialising with colleagues."
Second year trainee, London
"In my experience the culture seem fairly formal with a clear hierarchy. That said, everyone from partners to secretaries is available to help you if you need it and is genuinely interested in your opinions. In terms of after-hours activities we have monthly drinks which are well attended and great fun. Next month we have the junior lawyers' dinner which is provided by the firm and is an opportunity for trainees and associates across different departments to get to know each other better. The trainees go out together almost every week and often make the effort to have lunch together."
First year trainee, London
"Overall, the culture is very friendly and the amount of socialising varies between departments."

"The nature of the office means that there is no sense of hierarchy. You can work alongside relatively junior associates or directly with partners depending on the nature and amount of work available. I feel very much part of a team because all of the lawyers work on a variety of deals and so everyone can work with nearly everyone else at some point."
